Mas Doix

Mas Doix is a family owned winery renowned for producing wines that embody the characteristics of their vineyards. They produce wines that transmit the inherent values of the vineyard and characteristic terroir of the Priorat, a wine that is the fruit of its surroundings, soil, slope, orientation, micro-climate and native varieties. They want to produce a great wine for ageing, exclusive, with strong personality and very limited production to share it with connoisseurs who understand and share that same passion: a wine that is something to talk about. The Doix/Llagostera family is committed to producing wines that faithfully reflect for its elegance, balance and structure.

  • Salanques 2016

    Salanques 2016

An astounding 14.5% red wine produced by the acclaimed Mas Doix winery, in DOCa Priorat using 65% Grenache, 25% Carignane, 10 % Syrah, aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

    The Wine Advocate #244 – Aug. 2019 – 93+pts

The 2016 Salanques is phenomenal, one of the finest vintages ever. It has an expressive nose combining notes of flowers, wild herbs and berries and subdued minerality, reminiscent of wet slate. The palate is medium-bodied, with a little less alcohol, fine, slightly dusty tannins and very good freshness. It’s terribly balanced and tasty. It should develop beautifully in bottle.

Colour:  Ruby colour with violet reflections.

Nose: In the nose is a symphony of fruit of the forest, such as cranberries, raspberries and redcurrants, with a balsamic background and a slight note of wood.

Taste: In the mouth it is bulky and covers the tongue with a dense texture. It has a good structure made up of still present tannins that will be polished with a storage time in the bottle. End that lengthens and reminds you of blackberries and cherries.

An essential Priorat to start enjoying now or store in the private winery for a lustrum.
