Spaniche Wines Malta’s first own label wine, our first vintage.
This red wine has been designed especially for warm climates, a red wine that is very easy to drink, very fruity and can be served slightly chilled if need be. If you love your red wines but think that it being summer means you can’t enjoy them anymore, try this. Maro Carinena Tinto 2018 is a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Tempranillo.
No oak, just very smooth and easy to drink. As one of our regular customers says, it is a wine that just keeps giving!
Colour: A beautiful garnet
Nose: Highly aromatic with ripe, pure blackcurrant and blackberries.
Taste:The palate is super juicy with the same black clustered fruit and a lick of floral tones. Smooth and elegant tannin, medium-bodied and well integrated. The finish is semi scented with fruit and a touch of spice. All in all totally smashable. Serve at cellar temperature, around 18 degrees for full enjoyment.
A very good example of a Rueda wine, this cannot be called a Verdejo as it has some Viura in it which is why the price is lower than 100% Verdejo wines. Produced by Bodegas Mocen, this is a very easy to drink young white wine.
Colour:Medium intense golden yellow with occasional green hues.
Nose:On the nose it is big, with intense aromas of its Verdejo variety, hay and ripened tropical fruit.
Taste:In the mouth, it is fresh, fruity, oily, big, consistent, round and balanced.
After several generations winemaking and, later, producing base wine for cava, brothers Albert and Joan Milà i Mallofré decided, in 1993, to start making quality wines. While Albert was in charge of the cellar and vineyards, Joan used his vast experience as an oenologist and consultant to various Spanish wineries to serve as technical director. The Mas Comtal vineyards, which follow organic production guidelines throughout the entire process, occupy a total of forty hectares. Here are planted the white varieties Pansa (Xarel·lo), Chardonnay and a small plot of Müller-Thurgau, in addition to red varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Grape: 100% Muscat Hamburg
Colour: Clean and bright. Blush, very pale blush.
Nose: Crisp nose, where the notes of tropical fruits, white flowers just asking to be drunk.
Laus Tinto Barrica, is an aged red wine from Bodegas Laus in the region of Somontano, using Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah and rested in mixed oak barrels (staves of American oak and French oak bottoms) for five months.
Colour:Red wine of intense cherry red colour, with purple and red nuances that mark its youth.
Nose:Full and intense nose. Highlights aromas of red fruits with a touch of nuts (hazelnuts, roasted almonds), smoked, toffee and spices.
Taste:In the mouth it highlights its soft and fruity attack. Wide and sweet step in the mouth, where we find toast, spices, cloves and a sweet and soft tannin that leaves a very pleasant aftertaste.
Not to be mixed up with Abel Mendoza’s Jarrarte which is aged in oak.
Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica (carbonic maceration) is a red wine made in the D.O.C.a Rioja by Abel Mendoza Monje in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
A lively and young wine marked by its explosion of flavours. This young wine stands out from the rest of young Rioja, showing a different personality. This lively and fruity wine, perfectly reveals the quality of the grapes that compose it, playing a magnificent symphony of colour, aroma and flavour.
Colour:A great, deep red colour
Nose: Intense, super-ripe black cherries, liqourice and violet hints.
If you are looking for a sensibly priced 100% Tempranillo, this is your wine. This wine is produced by Bodegas Cesar Principe and the wine maker really knows what he’s doing. You will not be disappointed.
Colour:Bright and Ruby Red.
Nose:Having spent 8 months in barrel you can pick up maybe some slight vanilla hints. Also, there are aromas of red fruits, plums, preserves and spices.
Taste:Meaty, fresh and persistent with smooth tannins. Savoury and quite light. On the palate, you get a malty, savoury, slightly rustic feel. A hint of chocolate.
A newsletter is a regularly distributed publication generally
Spaniche Wines Malta has been established since 2017 and in that time has expanded and diversified its operation from solely importing Spanish wines, to now importing and distributing wines, spirits, beers and mixers. One thing hasn’t changed though, we insist on finding quality at good prices which we can then pass on to our clients.
Spain undoubtedly produces the best wines in the world when it comes to quality versus price. There are cheaper wines on the market, that is for sure, but when you compare the quality, Spanish wines are head and shoulders above the rest. As an example, try a bottle of Maro Carinena 2018 for €7.
The wines come from small, mainly family-run wineries in different regions such as Ribera del Duero, Navarra, Rioja, Priorat, Rueda, Rias Baixas and a few more.
Our mission is to offer the most comprehensive range of Spanish wines in Malta and Gozo. We already import the largest number of gins on these islands, along with three ranges of tonic waters and mixers to complement each gin.
Browse the shop, if there is anything you need that is not on there, email us. If we can't get it, we may well know who can.
